At this exhibition, he highlights voluntary depigmentation, a theme that has a particular resonance with the artist. This phenomenon mainly affects women from Afro-descendant communities in African countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal or Côte d’Ivoire, but also communities residing in Europe.
What is voluntary depigmentation? It involves applying chemicals, in the form of creams or lotions, to lighten the skin. It can even be done in the form of injections.

Durant la soirée, l’ARES a présenté l’ensemble de ses instruments de coopération et a sélectionné des lauréats pour les représenter. Pour parler du programme de mobilité, Yves Kulondwa, connu sous le nom de Kayene a été mis à l’honneur. En 2019, il a été sélectionné pour recevoir une bourse de stage de renforcement des capacités qui lui a permis de réaliser un séjour de 4 mois au sein de l’IHECS.
Lors de cette exposition, il met en lumière la dépigmentation volontaire, une thématique qui touche particulièrement l’artiste. Ce phénomène concerne majoritairement les femmes des communautés afro-descendantes dans les pays d’Afrique comme la République Démocratique du Congo, le Sénégal ou encore la Côte d’Ivoire mais également les communautés résidant en Europe.

Among the development tools implemented by the Development Cooperation Commission, the Institutional Support programme aims to support the institutional strengthening of partner establishments in the South.
Mexicans, Taiwanese, Italians, Latvians, Danes, Norwegians, Argentinians, to name but a few, have arrived for a semester or a full year to deepen their knowledge of communication and journalism, but also to discover a new culture and to immerse themselves in it.
To help them integrate, the IHECS International Exchanges Office organised an integration week. The agenda was filled with a wide range of courses and activities. Thus, the mornings of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were led by IHECS professors giving introductory talks on Belgium, Europe and cultural specificities.
For several years, IHECS has offered two programmes open to foreign students. One, the ARES programme, has been active since the second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year, while the IHECSolidaire programme is celebrating its 5th year.
