Goodbye, Manu

Manu Bonmariage, a journalism alumnus who graduated in 1962, passed away this Saturday, 7 November, at the age of 80.

After beginning his career as a cinema cameraman, he then provided numerous video reports from around the world for RTBF. On the strength of his experience behind the cameras at RTBF, he subsequently became a director.

Manu was probably one of our most celebrated alumni. Made famous by the production of the now cult Strip-Tease reports, he has no less than 80 productions to his credit!

Portrait of Manu Bonmariage as part of Expo 60/60, in 2019

In 2018, his daughter Emmanuelle devoted a documentary entitled “Manu” to him, retracing his life, his career and his fight against Alzheimer’s.

In 2019, during the 60th anniversary of our institution, Manu was honoured alongside 59 other alumni as part of the 60/60 Exhibition.

On behalf of the entire IHECS community, we offer our most sincere condolences to Manu’s family and loved ones during these diffult times. Manu will forever remain an integral part of the history of IHECS.
