IHECS beyond European borders
Since 2016, IHECS has been expanding its collaborations beyond the traditional Erasmus+ programme. After an initial agreement with the State University of Moldova in Chisinau, the school is now consolidating its exchanges with Borys Grinchenko University in Kiev. These partnerships are made possible by the international dimension of Erasmus+, which opens up the programme beyond the borders of the European Union, and have just been renewed for a further three years.
Every year, Moldovan students take advantage of this mobility to develop their communication skills and discover life in Brussels. Between theoretical and practical classes, cultural discoveries and adapting to a new academic rhythm, they emphasise the importance of this experience, both professionally and personally.
On the Ukrainian side, since 2023, four students have had the opportunity to spend a semester in Brussels. Immersed in a multicultural environment, they have perfected their skills in photography, video and investigative journalism, while finding a precious respite from the war.
Furthermore, mobility also applies to teachers. Last April, two teachers from Kiev, Tetiana Polishchuk and Margaryta Netreba, shared their expertise at IHECS through courses and lectures on journalism, communication and propaganda in times of war. Impressed by the school's practical approach and modern facilities, they engaged in fascinating discussions with their Belgian counterparts. "The creative and dynamic atmosphere at IHECS made us feel confident and inspired. It is very valuable that young journalists are interested in Ukraine and realise that their support is important," emphasises Tetiana Polishchuk.
Whether in Chisinau or Kiev, these collaborations go far beyond the academic sphere. They create genuine spaces for intercultural dialogue and mutual enrichment, confirming IHECS's mission: to train committed communicators who are sensitive to the values of the European Union and capable of grasping major international issues.
