IHECS visits IUR

30.03.2023
Between 20th and 26th March, an IHECS delegation comprising Jean-François Raskin, Frédéric Moens, Ahmed Belhaloumi, Morgane Pauwels and Benjamin Civilia visited International University of Rabat.

As you may already know, IHECS and IUR have been collaborating for 3 years through IHECS Africa, the University’s communication department. As part of this project, teachers from IHECS have travelled to IUR on several occasions to give lessons to Moroccan students, as was the case in early March with the visit by Sophie Pochet and Élise Maas

A busy schedule for Jean-François Raskin, Frédéric Moens and Ahmed Belhaloumi

The purpose of this trip was slightly different this time around. Jean-François Raskin, Frédéric Moens and Ahmed Belhaloumi took full advantage of the week by meeting various Moroccan personalities from the world of communication and the media, agency managers and business leaders, to familiarise themselves with the challenges and needs of the Moroccan communication and media environment.

They also had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Motonobu Kasajima, the General Delegate for Wallonia-Brussels International in Rabat in order to identify future avenues for collaboration between IHECS and Moroccan media and communication players.

Finally, a meeting was also planned with License 3 students (this equates to third-year Bachelor’s students in Belgium) in order to present to them the course syllabus and to introduce them to the 3 Master’s programmes in journalism, public relations and advertising. This presentation was also attended by Jean-François Raskin, Frédéric Moens, Thomas Van Der Straeten, Director of Studies at IHECS Africa, and Abdellatif Bencherifa, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social and Political Science. Note that within the framework of the IHECS-IUR partnership, we will soon be welcoming Moroccan students for a Master’s 1 semester.

Jean-François Raskin also used this visit to give various courses to IHECS Africa students.

An exchange between communication departments

At the same time, Morgane Pauwels and Benjamin Civilia, in charge of communication at IHECS, were able to meet members of the IUR Communication Department and discuss best practices. This was not a first meeting, because Rim Rhmani, Director of Communication, and Meryem Khadri, Head of Digital Communication, had in fact already visited IHECS in June 2022

Morgane Pauwels and Benjamin Civilia, with the IUR's communication department.

First of all, Morgane and Benjamin had the opportunity to meet the entire team from the IUR Communication Department and to visit the whole campus consisting of several academic buildings, accommodation and ultra-modern sports facilities. They were also able to discuss how the two departments operate, and current and future projects and potential synergies between them, not to mention, more generally, the two institutions.
