IHECS, founding member of IAME

18.06.2018
In 2016, IHECS committed itself to the creation of an international media literacy network, IAME, the International Association for Media Education.

WHAT IS IT?

IAMEInternational Association for Media Education, is an international non-profit association of which IHECS is a founding member.

This initiative aims to create a network for media literacy stakeholders – organisations, teachers, researchers, educators and media professionals – with the aim of providing a space for sharing and collaboration to promote media literacy at the international level.

The challenge is to contribute to the development of media literacy for all by giving a voice to those involved in it on a daily basis.

IHECS’s commitment to media literacy began almost five years ago with the establishment of the Master in Media Literacy. This initiative constitutes a new step in the development and promotion of this major educational challenge.

One of the first activities, which today brings together more than 50 members from 15 countries is the Summer School. It is scheduled to be held in LUCCA (Italy) from 1 July to 3 July 2019. There, professors David Buckingham (UK) and Normand Landry (Canada) will contribute to the debate and future activity of the network. A delegation from the Master in Media Literacy will represent IHECS at this event.
